Bees are some of our favorite creatures. Their main function is fertilization of your garden, to ensure that your plants produce the fruit and veggies that you are trying to grow. Secondly, you will have backyard derived honey. Its delicious, and it also helps with resistance to local allergies. The more local it is, the better.
Below is a photo of the last bee hive we constructed, a Warre Peoples Hive. This is a top bar bee hive, but uses the top house to protect the bees from weather, to add insulation in winter, and to increase airflow for the bees. This hive only has one box, but as the hive grows, boxes can be added. Its a great sturdy design. We’ll keep you posted with a new paint job, then the bees!
